The Wonderful World of The Novelty....and the boy Flintoff
AAARGH!! OK, so it's obviously been a while since I've updated this,
(though the special bets market isn’t as fast moving as the sporting branches
obviously). However before I start in on a whole set of predictions for the
upcoming special bets season, all I can say is if you didn't take my
Andrew Flintoff tip way back when little jars of wood ashes represented
England’s failed cricket glory, then YOU MISSED OUT ON A 25/1 CORKER!!
(Obviously if you took my Seb Coe tip, then, well… what can I say..)
But that's so last 3 months ago...
So without further ado, here are my predictions for the new set of special bets on the market.
Booker Prize
Whilst it seems incredible to many people that James Meek's “The People's Act of Love” was not nominated for the booker prize, it seems that Julian Barnes looks like he may finally win the prize with "Arthur & George". And at 2.18, it seems everyone else thinks so too. However, at around 5, you might want a cheeky couple of quid on Kazuo Ishiguro ("Never Let Me Go"), which seems to be the people’s choice.
White Christmas
You know what. As much as I know I'll be disappointed, I reckon it will snow this Christmas.. however @5 it's not really much in it....
Next James Bond Market
Ah, Mr Bond.. Yes this old chestnut. Bond, James Bond…
Who will play him now that Pierce is looking a little long in the tooth AND the franchise looks
like it’s in serious need of something to lift it from the last few DIRE attempts…
don’t get me started on the last Bond film, so disgustingly bad as it was.
I’ve managed to erase all memory of it other than:
- Madge’s TERRIBLE cameo
- Madge’s TERRIBLE song
- Ploughing myself straight into the nearest pub after watching it to try and kill all brain cells which may hold any memories of Madge’s terrible cameo.
So my predictions for the contenders to play the next Bond:
James Purefoy Because is because. Trust me.
Pierce Brosnan - There is rumours that even Brosnan thinks all this secrecy over who the next bond will be is a publicity stunt, and that he himself will be donning the tux, and killing his liver with watered down martinis.
Don’t believe the hype about
Daniel Craig especially when he is an even money shot. And whilst
Clive Owen would be cool as a smouldering bond, I don’t think he’ll get to play the next one. No real scientific reason, I just don’t think it’ll happen
Well that’s your full wrap for these upcoming special bets. Watch this space for a more tips... Bet well & remember: the best bets are the ones which leave you wondering if you can plug your folks & friends for some dosh to help keep the hired goons away from your door when you’ve lost it all.
