Week 5 - By Mappy

A tour of Europe again....hold on tight

A small profit from last week but with Nadal 2 sets down it could of been a helluva lot worse.....we will thank our lucky stars but also reflect that in all of the games we bet on we managed to win 3 out fo 15 tie breaks......I think the luck evened itself out. Anyway here are the tips for this week

Gaz de France Stars, Hasselt

Very little tips will be given for this event.  Kim Clijsters is a 2/1 ON favourite, so we're going to leave her alone because although she's likely to win the value is just not there.  So, looking at the bottom half of the draw we're going to try to find someone who will maybe get to the final and we can lay her back then.  This bet goes to Francesca Schiavone, who has been in great form this past month.

Grand Prix de Tennis, Lyon

Again the seedings for this tournament are just a joke with the main contenders all being placed in the top half of the draw.  There will be some big seed casualties in early rounds in the bottom half.  Robby Ginepri has probably the hardest draw on the main guys and is the reason we will be opposing him.  Although, he was knocked out early last week our money is again backing Andy Roddick.  After his 2nd round loss to Ivo Karlovic last week he played some doubles (with James Blake), so he has had some match practice.

St. Petersburg Open

We're quite happy to take on the top seed here as well.  Davydenko has not been in great form of late and the price is worth taking.  His first couple of matches are reasonably straight-forward, but in the QF he will likely have to play Nicolas Kiefer, who had a great Moscow Open.

Generali Linz

Amelie Mauresmo is the top seed here and after two early exits in the past two tournaments there's no way we'll be backing here this week. In fact we're happy to take on both the top seeds this week and will also be laying Elena Dementieva, who will have a hard first match against Vera Zvonareva. Our money will be going on the 3rd seed Nadia Petrova. She has the easiest draw on the major players by far as she is receiving a bye in the 1st round, a qualifier in the 2nd and then she's already in the QF

Swiss Indoor, Basel

This tournament sees the first meeting of Henman and Murray. The old against the new. The bookies can't pick a winner, but we're happy to take Murray over Henman. If Henman serves and volleys (as we suspect he will) Murray's quality of return of serve should be able to pick him off. We'll also be laying both Coria and Ferrero to win the tournament. Coria has only won 1 title this year (on clay) and Ferrero hasn't won any, so at these prices both players are worth taking on. If Nalbandian gets through his first match against Karlovic we will look to back him to win the tournament.
