USA Final Eight Market - 22nd May 2006
A good start to the World Cup Campaign for us here at CalvStar with the 4 main choice centre backs coming through unscathed allowing Wes Brown to book his summer hols.......now to the big picture and whats going to happen this summer.
At the moment I am researching this competition like crazy and with so many markets and so many stats to take in I'm going to see if I can steal another cheeky point and look to the good old US of A.
In my opinion they are a good football team........not sure they are top 10 in the world as the FIFA rankings would have us believe but a good enough team no less. In their group they have Italy (who are going through a rough time domestically with allegations of bribes anf match fixing), the Czech Republic (a team I can never get to grips with as I'm sure they should be rubbish but aren't for some reason...) and Ghana (a poor African Nations has not helped but have enough players to make the group interesting).
On the face of it the USA are not favourites to qualify from the group but I still have a feeling that they might just pip the Czech Republic but I need to do some more research..........anyway even if they do manage to get 2nd (I really don't think they can hope to win the group) they will face the winners of Group F........which lets be honest is going to be Brazil.
So if they manage to negotiate 3 decent teams in the group stage they then have to play the World Champions to get into the last 8.......I was expecting double figure odds when I came to look at this but imagine my shock when I saw it available to lay @ 6 so that's a bet right there.
