Champions League - 2007/2008

MatchDay 1

No podcast for the Champions League this week and the rest of the team are treading lightly when it comes to early rounds of the group stages but if you saw yesterday I had some tips and will have some again for Wednesday night

Chelsea let me (and I presume a lot of punters) down badly....it's easy to look at these things in hindsight but they look very lightweight up front but thought they would have enough to beat the Norwegians which is why I had that saver of 1-0...didn't expect them to concede though. Expect me to be backing a low scoring affair when they meet Man U on Sunday.

The reason I picked 0-0 for all games was looking back at the statistics of opening MatchDays in Champions League past with this result hitting a whopping 14% of the time so thought the prices I could get on each match would put me in good stead.

Last night saw a grand total of 0 which cost me 4pts and so I'll decide whether to go back on tonights games or not......at least my Italian Double looks good as long as Roma can do the business.

As for tonight It does look a tricky set of fixtures to call, I can see a great game at Ashburton Grove occuring and I will be tuning in for that, Sevilla are a lot of peoples dark horses to go well this year but will be up against an Arsenal team who have impressed me greatly this season.

Man U will do well to win in Portugal tonight and that has 0-0 written all over it even though it's Rooney's first game back....Barca are far to short to beat a decent Lyon side and I'm hoping Inter can get their campaign off to the right start.

Anyway the final tips will be finalized before 7.30pm BST tonight so join me then for the final cut.
