Football Future Markets
African Nations Cup
Well no matter how much the premiership managers are going to complain about it the show piece event in the African Football diary is here and I for one am happy. I love watching this event and even though it is getting more commerical you genuinly feel that the players play without fear and it mirrors that feeling on the pitch. Of course the betting is being dictated on known factors....i.e. which teams have the most British based/well known players along with which teams qualified for the World Cup meaning in my opinion the Ivory Coast are underpriced where as Tunisia and Morrocco (who contested the final last time out) are over priced. The other major factor is the groups and who will play who in the knockout stages......from first glance the winner of Group A (probably either Egypt, Ivory Coast or Morrocco) will play a pretty poor runner up in Group B (that is if Cameroon skate the group which I expect them to do). The problem is splitting these 3 good teams....I can't do it to be honest and the prices available make me want to stear clear of betting on this group now but if I can spot the winner early on I'll be taking there price immediately as I think they will then have a fair run to the semi's and I can then lay back if I choose.
The one team I like the look of is Tunisia, they have a fairly easy group and good form in this event. The team I'm not sure about is Ghana, they have a lot of injuries going into the event (the most notable Essien) and with a tough group of Senegl and Nigeria waiting for them an even money shot of seeing them not make it is an easy call.
Apart from that....at the moment no other prices stick out for me currently, I like the look of Cameroon as I think they will be keen to have a good run seeing as they missed out on Germany this but they are a little short for me and not much value...there is a lot of very good value on the Top Goalscorer markets that I'm keen to get involved with so for the moment I'll take Tunisia along with a couple of speculative punts on the golden boot and wait to see how it pans out before getting involved again. This page will be updated throughout the event and any single match bets will of course be under weekend_football but for now lets enjoy the show.....
