2006-2007 Premiership Season

Well here we are again.........Can anyone stop Chelsea? Probably not, is it worth backing at 1.52? No.......but I wouldn't lay that price either.

To be honest I think Chelsea will win it again......probably by 7pts and I think but I'm more interested in who is going to come 2nd. I think Arsenal are in for a good year this year, they have kept the boy Henry and got rid of the deadwood in Campbell and Cole (although it wouldn't suprise me to see Chelsea stick 2 fingers up at them after what happend with the "tapping" up trial last year just to spite both of them).

Back to Chelsea and according to my source it looks like Jose is going to stick with Drogba with Schevchenko playing a bit deeper out left......Schev looks a class act and I'm glad we are going to get to see him in this country even if it is with Chelsea. With such a plethera of talent even on the bench it's hard to see past them so where is the value?

Bunsen has already had a nibble on Liverpool to finish in the Top 2 so I'm going to leave that bet alone and instead look a bit lower down the league.

Last season I was very sweet on Blackburn and they proved me right by winning my season bet at a canter. After losing Bellamy this year though I am going to cool off them and find someone else to go well this year. Looking at the Premiership Points market there are 2 teams that I can see going well this year.

Portsmouth have a bit of money now and after a very decent finish to last year I can really see them going well this year, they have made some good signings and with Harry at the helm I can see a formidible season at home and if they can pick up a few points away it wouldn't suprise me to see them pushing for Europe. The spread on the market is for them to make 47 points in the season........that's a steal in my opinion and so thats my first bet.

Along the same lines we Aston Villa......they haven't interested anyone for many years but this season wll be different. They to have a guy who is going to throw a lot of money at the club but they need someone shrewd to make the signings....Martin O'Neill is a canny customer as when most people thought "why the hell is going there?" he probably realised that Villa will be a force in a few years thanks to the money. I'm hoping he'll keep onto Gareth Barry and then spend wisley. Again their quote on the points is 47 points......I'm having that to.

If you remember last year I didn't rate Man City, if anything I thought Stuart Pearce might be in line for the sack.......well I still don't rate them so a chance to buy them on the Premiership Finishing Positions is another steal. They are priced up to finish 11th.......they finished 15th last year and I'm pretty sure they haven't got any better even though I rate the signing of Haman they don't have enough quality and if Distin disapears this week then this will look like a great bet.

I'm also amazed I can get West Ham to finish below 11th this year. Last year they had a great season but I think this year might be a bit of a wake up for this young team and I'd be amazed if they repeated it this year.......with Ashton out for 12 weeks that'll only make life harder.

Finally a few punts on the Top Goalscorer........I know this is normally Bunen's forte but the Top Goalscorer Top 4 market is really interesting me as I think there are a few big prices.....however there is also some shocking value, Andy Johnson @ 6.2? Do me a favour!! That might come back to haunt me but I doubt he'll score more then Beattie let alone 3 other people in the whole league.

However there are a few that I do like. I think Saha could be in for a big season this year, he had a quietish summer warming the bench for France and will be fresh and fit, plus he doesn't have to worry about Ruud hogging everything. A price of 6 is a good one for a striker of this calibre. I'm also going to a tickle on Berbatov.....he's lite up pre-season with a few goals and reports suggest that he is the real thing so I'm going to give him a go to. As for the Chelsea boys.....I'd like to have Schevchenko but if he is only going to be wide left then I can't see the value at backing him @ 2.2 for the Top 4.......up front on his own definately but out wide.....nah. Henry @ 1.4 is frightenly short so I'm not touching that but van Persie @ 25 is definately worth a nibble, he always gets goals and with Bergkamp retired and possible Reyes on the move it'll be between him and Adebayor to partner Terrance up front.....if he's given the nod then he'll score a bucket load.
