Weekend Football - 2005-10-29
Week 13
Ok so Bunsen is back this week and frankly both CalvStar and Mappy have not kept the house in good nick so before the tips come here is a word from our holiday boy
What a difference a week makes……..
So I take a week for some hard earned rest, some sun on my back, some racing at Towcester (two winners) and all hell breaks loose.
What with penalty mix-ups, inconsistent form in the Premiership, Chelsea losing midweek, I have had to review the strategy this week.
Mappy and Calvstar have been leading the way in my absence and putting us on the front foot as we move into the final weeks of 2005.
The footie is still coming thick & fast with a full card this week and value a plenty.
The match of the weekend looks to be the mouth-watering north London derby where Tottenham have a poor record in this fixture of late. Spurs look to have some backbone this year and will be chomping at the bit against the old enemy. Arsenal seem to be spluttering along relying too much on Henry, who appears to be out injured unless Monsieur Wenger is playing more mind games.
The value looks to be in a 2-1 scoreline either way at around 12’s.
I like the look of Van Persie @ 8’s to score first and he is likely to play in Henry’s absence. He is on good form after the midweek game as fresh from not being used much this season. My speculative effort for the week is Ledley King @ 30’s. He is dangerous from set pieces and due a goal.
I am going to plump for Frank Lampard in the Chelsea vs. Blackburn game as you cannot afford not to be on this boy these days. He is banging them in for fun after a slow start and his odds are creeping towards that of the strikers, as the disgruntled bookie is sick of getting caught. He is currently at 7’s but on current form that price will not last.
Finally I have chosen to look at the less glamorous tie of Charlton vs. Bolton. I think this could be a close one and no more than 2 goals in the game. Danny Murphy is great value at 11’s to score first. He is one of the most consistent performers around (a must for the fantasy team) and after a few quiet weeks where I have left him alone, its time to back this boy at the valley.
Far too often the Coca Cola leagues are forgotten and the Premiership gets all the attention. I have looked at all 92 teams this week have picked out a few that look tasty:
