2009/2010 Pre-Season Review and Bets

Arsenal

At the moment this is another selling summer for the Gunners but to be honest losing Adebayor, Eboue and Toure for decent money may not be the end of the world but it depends if this money is re-invested into the squad. I personally think they will struggle to make the Top 4 let alone Top 3 unless some of that 40 million is put on a world class defensive midfielder and that's the original bet here

Chelsea

Have gone quietly about their work this season by locking current players down to contracts (Terry was never going to go to City but was angling for a pay rise at his current club). But they are in much better shape then Liverpool who look to lose either/both Alonso and Macherano with no replacement(s) on the horizon. I think Chelsea will challenge hard for the title this year but I still can't pin down how well Man City will go this year so a safer bet is to beat Liverpool

Man City

I'm trying not to get carried away with the hype and I know they are very unbalanced in terms of quality at the front and back but when they pick up Toure I think they have a VERY good back 4 (with a decent keeper too) and with the quality up front can see them going close or even breaking into the Top 4. As a saftey bet I can see them surpassing last years points total that saw Everton come 5th with ease

Portsmouth

Are going to be in for a long old season, they have sold 77million pounds worth of talent and are struggling to hold onto Distin which leaves not much in wat of quality on the pitch. I don't think they will be relegated as to be honest there are SO many poor teams in the Premier League this year but they will be around the trap door come May
