Snooker - World Championship

The Final

Two contrasting semi-finals sets up the unlikely Final of Peter Edbon vs. Graeme Dott. If you had predicted this before the world championships had started, you would have been laughed all the way out of the crucible. None of the finalists have been playing well all season and were in danger of falling out of the top 16.

In a nail biter Ebdon managed to hold his nerve after a great fight back by Marco Fu to go through on the deciding frame.

In the other semi-final Ronnie disintegrated as Graeme Dott produced some great snooker to take the match 17-11. I am particularly disappointed as Ronnie was playing some really good stuff in the early rounds but failed to produce when he really needed it.

So onto the final. It’s going to be a tough one to call. I think that the semi-final match will have taken a lot out of Peter Edbon even though he is in great form.

Graeme Dott has surprised more than just me this year and has been a finalist before.

I predict new champion come Monday night.
